Last week: State Rep. Geraldine Thompson may forever be known as the
Black woman who caused the Florida Supreme Court to remain all-white and
possibly all male! Thompson filed a lawsuit challenging Gov. Ron DeSantis’
appointment of Palm Beach Circuit Court Judge Renatha Francis to the
Florida Supreme Court. She would be the first non-Cuban of Caribbean
heritage to sit on the Court. Francis may be the right color. But she has the
wrong politics for Thompson — and those who put her up to filing the suit. She
is politically conservative — a “no-no” to most of Florida’s non-Caribbean
Democratic establishment!
